Mixed Case - Loire Valley
Don't miss this opportunity to order wine that is usually only available by-the-case. And if there is a wine in particular that you find you love, you can always contact us to order a full case.
1x La Grange Tiphaine - 2019 Bel Air
One of the great white grapes of the world: Chenin Blanc. This Chenin was grown on limestone soils, resulting in a wine very typical of the Loire Valley, with elegant and refreshing acidity, gorgeous texture and a cascade of mineral notes. The wine is fermented spontaneously with indigenous yeasts, unfined and with low addition of sulphites. Superb value and testament to the deliciousness of this under-appreciated grape.
1x Les Athletes du Vin - 2018 Sauvignon
The other white grape variety that the Loire Valley is well-known for, Sauvignon Blanc, simply must be included in a Loire mixed case. Grown on sand and clay on 30 year old vines, and fermented in stainless steel to preserve the aromatic nature of the variety. With citrus and floral aromas on the nose and a well-structured and balanced palate, it is one of our favourite everyday wines. Delicious as an apéritif, with seafood or cheese.
1x Les Athletes du Vin - 2018 Grolleau
Our friends at Les Athletes du Vin also produce beautiful red wines. The Grolleau comes from 60 year old vines grown on just four hectares. The grapes are harvested manually, macerated anaerobically and fermented in stainless steel tanks, all to preserve the fresh and fruity character of the grapes. The wine is then aged in concrete tanks for six months.
1x Domaine de la Roche Bleue - 2018 La Guingette
Sebastien Cornille's lovely Guinguette is made from a blend of 80% Pineau d’Aunis and 20% Gamay, sourced from 30+ year old biodynamically farmed vines. The grapes undergo semi-carbonic maceration for 20 days in tank before the Pineau d’Aunis is pressed off to be aged in neutral barrique and the Gamay further in tank. With bright aromas of peppery raspberry, cranberry, tart cherry and violets on the nose, and hints of grapefruit, clove and wet stone on the palate, this is a refreshing wine very typical of the Loire Valley. Serve slightly chilled with charcuterie, grilled pork, lamb, or mild cow cheeses.
1x Les Athletes du Vin - 2018 Pinot Noir
A Pinot Noir that shows how the variety can thrive in the cool climate of the Loire Valley. The grapes come from 20 year old vines with low yields, and are partly aged in stainless steel tanks and wooden vats. The wine is fruity in a very elegant way, with silky tannins and a delicate freshness. Pair with charcuterie, poultry, red meats and cheeses.
1x La Grange Tiphaine - 2019 Ad Libitum
The Ad Libitum is a blend of Cot (also known as Malbec), Gamay and Cabernet Franc, resulting in a beautiful combination of the delicate, herbal character of the Cabernet Franc, the freshness of Gamay and the richness and fruitiness of the Cot. Damien and Coralie Delechaneau have found the perfect way to create a well-balanced and complex wine out of these varieties, and we believe this is their best vintage so far.
